What's going on?

Postby tactically naive » Fri Jan 22, 2010 10:00 pm

It's been 8 weeks since the CDBA AGM was adjourned so I think someone must ask........
WHAT'S GOING ON?
The short carpet and domino leagues have been trundling along but these are merely pub sports to get us out the house and keep the clubs ticking over during the winter months.
All the clubs will be starting to open in 10 weeks but the thought of there not being a committee in place is a real fear. The silence from our own boardroom has been very disappointing to say the least.
I'm not looking for any confidential information but even if anyone from the kindred the clubs could hint that discussions have taken place then we might get a glimmer of hope that there will be a District this year.

Schuperb Bye the way.....hearing reports that the vote went 7 v 3 in favour of the staus quo for an 8 rink league this season. I believe that it was a straight vote for either 8 rinks or 6 rinks. Not sure what happened to the other proposal of 2 sections, Sec A - 8 rinks; Sect B 6 rinks. Also not sure who the voters were but only three teams going with the 6 rinks is a strange one with me!!!! I'm sure the 'office bearers' will get down to work on this very quickly.....schuperb bye the way, schuperb!!!

First of all, there was a vote taken, between the new six rink proposal and the two section split.
The six rink proposal won that particular vote by 8-2

The six rink proposal and the status quo of 8 rinks were then voted for.
This resulted in a 7-3 vote in favour of the status quo.

The three clubs that voted for a six rink lead were Albion, Scotstounhill, and Victoria Park.

This voting procedure is normal practice and totally correct for any AGM's EGM's etc.
(I.E. Amendment versus counter amendment, then highest vote versus status quo)

You're explanation is spot on with me 1st Terrace...!! I assumed that the 8/6 split was too complicated for the CDBA boys!! On another note....are you sure that the three clubs voting for 6 rinks were Albion, S'Hill and VP? I'm 99.99% sure that Yoker voted with the 6 rink proposal, though have my doubts that they voted for 8/6 split.

In my opinion the 6 rinks should have been kicked out.....why is the majority trying to prevent boolers from playing on a Friday night?????

8 Rinks x 10 clubs = 320 players per Friday fixture list

6 Rinks x 10 clubs = 240 players per Friday fixture list

Basically we are telling 80 players they can't play any longer (or average 60 players taking into consideration that several teams can't field 8 erinks each week).

Financially 60 players spending £10 per night = £600 x 13 (9 league/4 league cup) = £7800 approx potential income being lost from the bowling world. The way things are going at the moment you'd think they'd have more sense....eh????
