Deciding the number of shots scored
1 The process of deciding the number of shots scored should not start until the last bowl required to be played in an end has come to rest, or 30 seconds after that if either skip or opponent in Singles asks for this 30-second period (for example, to see whether or not a bowl lying at an angle will fall of its own accord within that time).

2 If either skip or opponent in Singles has asked for a 30-second period, no bowl which is likely to fall should be secured during that period.

3 No measuring will be allowed before the process of deciding the number of shots scored starts (as described in paragraph 1 above).

Thank you shady for this information... I wonder if you could enlighten me as to what the SBA rules say about putting a pen under an opposing bowl to stop it falling say.... after about 8 seconds. Is this covered within the rules? Was wondering if it was maybe permitted under an obscure sub-section...

Obscure sub sections
....1a If you need to use a temporary wedge, use a wallet instead of a pen. This tends to be thicker and can push the falling bowl further away.
....1bMake sure that your opponents are novices and haven't played with or against you before.
....1c Always be alert to the fact that spectators may have had too much sun and/or alcohol and will call you all the dirty cheating names that they can think of.

Ahhh its nice to come back to this post and remember what happened .Saying that its a shame the person in question didnt have a wedge with him ,when he like that bowl was falling over recently, if he was just as fast to put that wedge under his own foot he wouldnt be hobbling about at present :).get better soon m8 :p
