Now we have some juniors in the Club, and also on the forum, and the juniors should be up on this new internet thingy, you should have a topic of your own to talk about upcoming games etc.

Hee hee

Lets rephrase that then NL..........

Lets say......................... experienced rather than Auld Yins......................

And just so you know, if you ask the juniors whether we are " experienced " or "Auld Yins"............and they were to answer honestly....

they would tell you that we aint experienced, in fact we know nothing and are beyond hope

 But we know best

A point I would like to make is that it was very dissapointing to see what we term juinor players not being allowed to take part in our opening day sweep. Not only that these young men if they were a member of any other sporting club and were considered good enough would be playing,ie football golf or whatever.
How as a club trying to go forward are we expected to improve if we cant even allow what after all are official club members a game in a sweep.
I appeal to the committee to use common sense and allow the "juniors" as a minimum, entry to all our internal competitions, what problems could it possibly create.
In NI I regualrly play againsy under 18's,have you heard of Gary Kelly if not google him and then consider if he was a member of our club he would not get a game because he is a "JUNIOR" .

good luck

Fully agree with your points barrsy. We want to encourage these juniors as there is not a flood of new members waiting, and junior members moving on and progressing to be full members is the future of the club.
There will be occassions when club sweeps are well attended, but these are few and far between now, even on Wednesday's and surely it is better for the green to be used and juniors get the chance to learn with more experienced players, and knowing the Clydebank members, will be only too happy to pass on tips on playing, rules and etiquette.
I see that Dalmuir held an opening sweep for Junior members, and maybe that is something to consider for our club.

I`d also like to add my congratulations to the lads for the call up................... They were ambassadors for the club at the Dalmuir Junior Open last Sunday, and if they had had a decent lead then they would have made the final. They played some excellent bools and that was on a day when there were downpours, thunder and lightning and some unpredictable green conditions.

Not really been on the Junior forum yet but like to add that all juniors in the club seem to be getting more involved the past year than previous years as we were able to play in such competitions as mixed triples, mixed pairs, friendlys and more importantly the members day. I think i speak for all the juniors in saying thank you to Clydebank bowling club as a whole as after speaking to the juniors they have all enjoyed it this year and hope to get the enjoyment of competing against more experienced members of the club in order to improve and have a chance of winning the junior championship as they did this year by adding in a semi-final this gave the rest of the juniors something to play for as they were getting tired of the same 2 people in the final every year. This was a great idea and hope to see it develop others chances of winning some day.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Tam McCabe , Brian Purdie and Scott Paton as they helped out with the Juniors this year. All the Juniors feel the same and would hope that we would recieve the same help and guidence as las year.
