During a passing visit to the club this afternoon, to check on the progress of todays McKerrow triples section, another couple of next years potential Directors seemed to take exception at their non selection for Wednesday's short carpet match. I think that's now only 1 who I have not managed to upset so I think its fair to assume that I will not be invited to assist in any future selection committees.
Despite all the complainants having a poor record in the league and ties, only turning up when picked and, when they do turn up, leave before the matches have finished they seem to think that they are contributing something.(other than keeping better players on the sidelines)
Never mind it will give me more time to enjoy playing bowls. Such as the Scottish singles, DBA fours, A J Campbell and u45 rinks, all of which I fall into the traditional qualifying criteria for.
At least the ones who are complaining will be available to umpire all these comps cause they've qualified for heehaw.

once again TN totally agree with you on this point, if they are not good enough then they should support those who are representing the club or practice more in order to get better and be in contention to be selected. if they are not happy with what they have been told then they shouldn't bother even putting their name down for further selection. At the end of the day we are 7 points clear with 2 games to go and a very difficult game against Dalmuir BC in which we need the strongest team possible to go out and get the job done and retain the league.

It doesn't matter how much you practice if you are not willing to learn.

Everytime you play you should learn something.
For example......... I watched a pairs game the other week.
team A needed a win to go through- draw and their out. 6 up playing the last -3 shots against - skips have 1 bowl each to play.
team A were looking out their white shirts for the next round and didn't try with their last bowl.
team B almost played a bowl onto bowl for a 6 that the winners were totally unaware of.

Now that would have been a lesson learnt. ;) ;)

yeh think i recall being there myself, i did learn after that, let's just say lewis would not of been to happy if we never made it (you would of loved to see us lose a 6 then you would of been through) fair enough TN i get what your saying now no matter how often you play you learn something new everytime you ATEMPT to play your next bowl.
